NEEDLEWORK AND KNITTING  O

EXHIBITORS PLEASE NOTE: 

All Entries in Watts Pavilion are $1.00 unless more than (3) three entries are made in any section within the Watts Pavilion (excluding Fleeces) – Fee is then 50 cents for each entry.  Children’s entries are FREE (16 years & under), prizes are award instead of money.

 

Entries close and must be in Pavilion no later than 6.30pm Thursday 17th Nov 2011.  Entries may be collected from 4pm on Saturday 19th Nov 2011 – Show Day

 

All exhibits must be bona fide work of exhibitor. Seams and hems may be machine sewn, but all decorative work must be done by hand. All work must be new and unwashed.

 

No Entry, which has previously been exhibited at any Kyneton Show will be accepted

 

All section tickets to be attached by Safety Pin.  Provide own coat hangers

 

No Work may be removed from the Show until 4pm or at discretion of Stewards.

 

Prizes: (unless otherwise stated) 1st $2, 2nd $1

AGGREGATE TROPHY:  A Trophy donated by Mrs. B. Coutts, will be given to exhibitor who secures the highest aggregate.  1st prizes 2 points, 2nd prize 1 point. 

WOOLLEN OR OTHER MATERIALS UNLESS SPECIFIED 

Class 1a        VAS Ltd State Sewing Championship Competition

The garment /outfit to be made by the exhibitor.  Garment/Outfit of wearing apparel (maximum 3 pieces). Sewn by machine.  May be hand finished.   To be constructed in fabric using natural fibre or fibre-blend.  Accessories such as scarves, stoles, shawls, gloves etc is not acceptable.  Knitted/crocheted items are not acceptable.

Class 1b        VAS Ltd Knitting Competition

Hand knitted jumper or cardigan made from pure wool/wool blend of any ply. Must have attached label from wool used or label or receipt from Woollen Mill.

Class 1c         VAS Ltd Hand Patchwork Competition

A piece of patchwork, no more than 1 meter on any one side, machine pieced and machine quilted.  No embellishments.

Class 1d        VAS Ltd Article of Hand Embroidery

                        An article of hand embroidery, any type (excluding cross stitch).

Class 1e        VAS Ltd Crocheted Article Competition

An article of crochet, made from pure wool/wool blend of any ply. Must have attached label from wool used or label or receipt from Woollen Mill.

 

Regulations Classes 1a to 1e:

State Final sponsored by SPOTLIGHT

1st Prize: $300 voucher, 2nd Prize: $150 voucher, 3rd Prize: $50 voucher

  1. Exhibitors may represent only one Society at Group Level and one Group at State level. 
  2. An item having won at a Show will compete at a Group Final.  The winning garment will then compete in the State Final at the next Royal Melbourne Show.
  3. An item having won at State Final, is no longer eligible to compete in the competition.
  4. Each garment entered must be the bona fide work of the exhibitor.
  5. If for any reason the winner is unable to compete at Group or State level then the second place getter is eligible to compete.
  6. A person will not be permitted to win at more than one show within the State in any one Show year.  Persons not adhering to this rule will be required to forfeit/refund prize money.
  7. All work to have been completed with the last twelve (12) months.

CHILDREN’S SECTION (16 Years & Under)

Children 16 years and under are eligible to enter Classes 2 – 34 marking each class with the letter ‘C’ before the class number.  Eg Novelty Coat Hanger would be Class C30.  Please mark entry with the age of the exhibitor. 

 

HANDWEAVERS AND SPINNING CLASSES 

Hand Spinning

Class 39        100 gram skein handspun yarn from natural coloured fleece prepared by exhibitor

Class 40        150 gram (3X50gm) skeins handspun yarn from 3 different natural fibres (please supply sample of fleece & identify)

Class 41        50 gram skein novelty yarn to include wool and other fibres

Class 42        50 gram skein spun from commercially prepared fibre

 

Knitting & Crochet

Class 43        1 article using knitted from handspun fibre

Class 44        1 article using crochet from handspun fibre

 

Weaving

Class 45        Handwoven length of fabric using natural fibres (includes stole or shawl, minimum 2 metres,)

Class 46        Handwoven article (scarf, hat, bag etc)

 

Felting

Class 47        Article felted from natural fibres
